Prof. David Daokui Li invited to deliver keynote speech at the “Tanner Lecture on Human Values” at the University of Cambridge

On March 17, 2025, David Daokui Li, professor at Tsinghua University’s School of Social Sciences, director of the Academic Center for Chinese Economic Practice and Thinking (ACCEPT), and co-chair of the Society for the Analysis of Government and Economics (SAGE), was invited to deliver a keynote speech at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom for the “Tanner Lecture on Human Values,” entitled “China's World View and Implications for the Future of the World.” Based on his new book China's World View, Prof. Li made use of photos and stories to vividly illustrate the internal logic behind China's socio-economic system, the country’s basic principles for approaching international affairs, and the sustainability of its path towards development, in addition to contemplating the possibility of the world's diversified development moving forward into the future. He called on the international community, including Western countries, to adopt a positive view towards embracing China's development, its ideas and values, including seizing the opportunities brought about by China's development for the world as a whole. The atmosphere at the lecture hall was relaxed, friendly and enthusiastic.

More than 200 people attended the lecture, with some of the guests having later attended the evening banquet held at Clare Hall. The event was attended by the Chancellor of the University of Cambridge, the deans of the university’s various colleges, British parliamentarians, senior officials of the British Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, former and recently appointed British ambassadors to various countries, university faculty members and students, as well as members of the general public.
