Tsinghua ACCEPT hosts “Roundtable Discussion on the High-quality Development of Consumer Finance”

The Roundtable Discussion on the High-quality Development of Consumer Finance, hosted by Tsinghua University’s Academic Center for Chinese Economic Practice and Thinking (ACCEPT)was successfully convened at the center this past week on campus at Tsinghua University. The seminar brought together a number of experts from leading consumer finance companies, auto finance companies, and fintech companies to conduct in-depth discussions on key topics such as innovative practices, risk prevention and control, policy directions and sustainable development in the consumer finance industry, offering up ideas and suggestions for promoting the high-quality development of the industry.

Based on current economic circumstances, consumer finance has come to represent an important force for promoting economic growth and expanding domestic demand, ushering in significant opportunities for continued development while also presenting many challenges. In order to comprehensively review the high-quality development path for the consumer finance industry, participating experts discussed both the various strengths and pain points associated with the development of the industry. The research group at Tsinghua University's ACCEPT examining the topic of consumer finance presented preliminary findings from its Report on the High-quality Development of Consumer Finance to the industry experts in attendance, a draft report of which is currently under preparation, with ACCEPT Executive Deputy Director Li Ke’aobo presiding over the meeting and delivering remarks.

The discussion roundtable generated several points of consensus through a wide-ranging exchange of views, with the relevant recommendations produced in the process providing a reference for ongoing academic research, policy formulation and corporate strategizing. The representatives from Tsinghua ACCEPT expressed that the research institute will continue to work towards building a platform for exchanges across the domains of industry, higher education and research that supports consumer finance in playing a greater role in spurring domestic demand and satisfying people's needs.
