Prof. Xiang Xu wins top prize in the "Data Torch Plan – China Data Factor Emerging Scholars Program"
On November 25, the first batch of winners for the “Data Torch Plan—China Data Factor Emerging Scholars Program” was officially announced at the 2024 Data Exchange Festival. Professor Xu Xiang, a researcher at the Academic Center for Chinese Economic Practice and Thinking (ACCEPT) at Tsinghua University, was awarded with the grand prize and received an invitation to deliver a keynote speech at the 2024 Data Asset Management Summit (DAMS 2024) under the theme of “Building an Integrated Market for Data Factors with Chinese Characteristics: Theoretical Connotations, Practical Challenges and Implementation Channels.”
Jointly initiated by the Shanghai Data Exchange, the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data Distribution and Exchange Technologies, together with Tongfang Knowledge Network Digital Publishing Technology Co., Ltd., the “Data Torch Plan—China Data Factor Emerging Scholars Program” is China's first young scholars award program for theoretical research on data factors, which aims to further bolster the potential of digital talents working towards supporting the essential functions of the digital economy and accelerating the formation of new quality productive forces. Representative emerging scholars in the field of data factors are selected for consideration on the basis of their submissions of high-quality academic papers.
Having been officially launched in August of this year through a series of selection rounds, including individual submissions, big data screening and final selection by a panel of experts, the “Data Torch Plan—China Data Factor Emerging Scholars Program” is geared towards young scholars under the age of 45 and has since attracted widespread public attention. With the support of Tongfang Knowledge Network’s academic big data capabilities, 3 grand prizes, 6 first prizes, 15 second prizes, 45 third prizes and 30 nomination awards were selected after taking into consideration quantitative scoring combined with the recommendations of experts, the distribution of academic disciplines, and the practical contribution of scholars' academic papers.
