Delegation from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology visits Tsinghua ACCEPT for an in-depth dialogue
This week, Li Qiang, Deputy Director of the Consumer Goods Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Li Hui, Director of the Urban Traffic Management Division of the Traffic Administration Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, dropped by Tsinghua University’s Academic Center for Chinese Economic Practice and Thinking (ACCEPT), where they were warmly received by the research institute’s Director David Daokui Li, who extended salutations and gratitude for their visit.
The two sides entered into an in-depth discussion on the topic of the newly introduced national standard for electric bicycles (e-bikes), which has recently been the subject of much deliberation. China is one of the world’s major producers and consumers of e-bikes, with data revealing that the number of e-bikes in China has exceeded 350 million as of 2023. The introduction of a well-devised “new national standard” has an impact not only on satisfying the practical transportation needs associated with the broader public’s living conditions, but also has direct implications for the steady development of the upstream and downstream segments of the e-bike industrial chain. Looking ahead to the future, with the thoroughgoing implementation of the new national standard and continuous technological progress, the development of the e-bike industry will continue moving in a positive direction while providing consumers with access to increasingly superior products and services.
