Experts Discuss Development Prospects for New Energy Vehicles in Seminar on “Win-Win Cooperation Drives Industry Transformation"

This past week, a seminar on "Win-Win Cooperation Drives Industry Transformation," hosted by the Academic Center for Chinese Economic Practice and Thinking (ACCEPT) at Tsinghua University, was successfully held in Beijing. The seminar took aim at seizing opportunities for further developing the field of new energy while promoting the healthy integration of the automotive industry, bringing together experts and scholars from the government, universities, manufacturing and technology companies, platform enterprises and consulting agencies to jointly put forward ideas and suggestions for the future development of these industries. 


Attendees present at the seminar included Xu Changming, Deputy Director of the State Information Center; Zhao Fuquan, Professor at the School of Vehicle and Mobility at Tsinghua University and Director of the Tsinghua Automotive Strategy Research Institute; Walter Mertl, Director and Chief Financial Officer of BMW Group; Gao Xiang, President and Chief Executive Office of BMW Group Greater China; Tang Daosheng, Senior Executive Vice President of Tencent Group and Chief Executive Officer of Tencent Cloud and Smart Industries Group; Li Bin, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of NIO Inc.; Yu Kai, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Horizon Robotics Inc.; Deng Xue, Managing Director and Chief Analyst for the Automotive Industry at CICC's Research Department; and Zheng Yun, Senior Partner for Roland Berger's Greater China Automotive Industry Division, among other distinguished guests. David Daokui Li, Director of the Academic Center for Chinese Economic Practice and Thinking (ACCEPT) at Tsinghua University, presided over the seminar.


While acknowledging that the automotive industry has made remarkable advancements in recent years, including achievements in new energy transformation and intelligent driving, among other areas, attendees at the meeting remarked that the industry still faces a variety of challenges, such as the need for further improvements with regards to technical standards, industrial coordination and international cooperation. Encouraging mergers, acquisitions and strengthened integration, as well as making improvements to ecosystem collaboration within the industry itself, represent some of the important means to begin addressing these challenges. The successful holding of this seminar has made a positive contribution towards fostering a higher degree of consensus within the industry in addition to promoting the healthy development of the new energy and intelligent automotive industry.
