Event Info: The 45th Tsinghua University Forum on China and the World Economy

Looking ahead to the second half of 2023 and the next few years, what policy measures can be taken to bolster the confidence of domestic market players, ensure a smooth flow of economic activity, and stabilize growth momentum? From a long-run perspective, how might we go about promoting scientific and technological innovation to continuously tap into and stimulate new drivers of economic development? How should we manage the relationship between economic development and financial stability and what role should there be for financial supervision and regulation? How can we tackle the excessive debt burden now facing local governments? What impact is the recent downtrend in China's population having on economic growth prospects and how can we best make use of the country’s remaining reserve of human resources? During a time when the world order is undergoing significant changes, how can we encourage improvements to the system of global governance and how should we approach China-US relations, China-EU relations, and China’s relations with neighboring Asian countries? In addition, with the accelerated development of artificial intelligence (AI) in recent months, what will be AI’s long-term impact on humanity and how might we address this major challenge of the future through a combination of institutional innovation and international cooperation?

The Academic Center for Chinese Economic Practice and Thinking (ACCEPT), in partnership with Tsinghua University and the School of Economics and Management, has invited esteemed experts and scholars from academic, policy and business circles to discuss these and other economic trends at its 45th Tsinghua University Forum of China and the World Economy. Come join us for our flagship biannual event of the year and gain some key insights on China's mid-year economic outlook!
